When I was pregnant with my daughter, I read somewhere that shoes were not a good idea until around age 1 and walking. Before then, they may be cute, but their feet are still developing and shoes aren't a natural thing for the kids.

However, living in the desert, feet still need covering! That's where soft-soled shoes come into play! My daughter's first shoes are in a memory display, and they were the most beautiful shoes by See Kai Run, from their line "smaller."

I like that they have various types of shoes and so we've pretty much stuck with this brand shoes for both kids. The shoes are cute, functional and the shoe "type" grows with the child's development.

In addition they carry some sandles, dressy shoes, "sneakers" and even some boots at times! I love that they keep some classic styles but always have something new out there! Knowing that they change things up, I've even purchased the "same" shoe in two sizes because I loved them so much!

Necessary for potty learning and EC

Summer is coming to an end for most of the US (I say most because those in the desert SW and deep south probably have another month+ of too much heat).

Many moms want an alternative to stripping off pants quickly for a potty learning or ECing little one. Many move on to leggies, a great option for many times, but, unfortunately, it doesn't cover the bum when the cold weather moves in. And, for me, it means making sure kiddos don't open the door to the UPS man! With EC pants, you get convenience and coverage!

ECWear.com has split pants - what's that? They look almost exactly like regular pants but have a split for easy potty time! That's all of $10 to try them out to see if they're for you! You really can't get regular pants, much less specialty pants at that price! These are testers so she's seeing how they work - but with your feedback you can get $$ back too!

Challenge - Chemical Soap use

I have to admit that, in general, I'm the one who steams up the bathroom. I have this belief that I can only get clean if the water is nearly boiling hot. Okay, we live in an apartment and the thermostat is not set *that* hot, but really, I like a hot shower. The fact is, though, we can get clean wthout the hot water. We can also get clean without the chemical soaps. An item that we currently use sparingly, but will use pretty much exclusively once we use up all of our "chemicals" is soap nuts. No, soap nuts are not people who go crazy over getting clean. Soap nuts (sapindus) are native to warm climates and may also be called a soapberry. Soap nuts contain saponin which is a natural detergent which is used to clean clothes, wash your hair, and other items. It is great for sensitive skin.
So my challenge to you is to take a load of your regular clothes, put them in the wash, without soap, and then open up your washer (assuming it isn't front loading!) mid agitation and watch how the suds! It is no wonder people with sensitive skin (like me and my daughter) have problems with chemical detergents like Tide! They stay in your clothes!
