You have got to be kidding me - Silence is not golden

I've seen the memes. You know, the ones like this:

Silence is not golden if you have kids

Right, silence is definitely not golden if you have a toddler or preschooler!

Well, I know this. I've seen these memes. I believe them. I told my husband about it, yet we continued to let the silence be and watch "Two Broke Girls."

Well, fair warning to all. This is what can happen in a matter of 15 minutes. In 15 minutes a 4.5 year old and a 2.5 year old can manage to bring ride on toys, bracelets, musical instruments and more into a bedroom. Then, they can dump all the rubber bands necessary for a small office on to the floor. Basically, kids can make a mess.

Needless to say, I'm posting this before helping them pick it up.

Yes, that's what I saw when I went to get toothpaste for the kiddos to brush before bed.

How to clean up a kid's major mess:

  • Remain calm
  • Start with the easiest, the musical instruments since the music box is close by.
  • Remain calm
  • Ask the 2.5 year old to put all the ride on toys back into the hall/play area.
  • Remain calm
  • Ask 4.5 year old to pick up rubber bands.
  • Remain calm.
  • Put chairs back into play area with the table where they belong.
  • Remain calm
  • Sorta make the bed.
  • Remain calm
  • Have 4.5 year old take jammies off of "building area" and wear them.
  • Remain calm.
  • Have 4.5 year old brush.
  • Remain calm.
  • Remove lunch bag and put in kitchen for later - I still have to make tomorrow's lunch.
  • Put 4.5 year old in bed.
  • Let the rest stay for later, or hope the husband helps as well.
